Overview: The AI Aware Universities project was organized by the Center for Information, Democracy, and Citizenship (CIDC) at the American University in Bulgaria. The project invited five European Universities to work together on addressing the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on universities and education.
Project aims: This project aimed to create publicly sourced recommendations for the ethical use of AI software and tools at universities through participatory democracy methods. It hoped to
- Build trust among students, faculty, and staff by putting them on an equal footing and giving them the option to deliberate openly and freely
- Broaden the perspectives on the ethical use of AI at across partner universities by developing as set of recommendations
- Empower students to take the lead and run the participatory process
