Orosz and Craciun Prepare European Commission Report on the Benefits of International Collaboration in Higher Education

Kata Orosz, assistant professor of Higher Education Policy in the School of Public Policy, and Daniela Craciun, doctoral student in the School of Public Policy at CEU, recently published an analytical report, entitled the Benefits and Costs of Transnational Collaborative Partnerships in Higher Education through the European Expert Network on Economics of Education.

In the report, the authors synthesize rigorous research-based evidence and conclude that the benefits brought about by international collaboration in higher education include more and better research publications and patents, better foreign language proficiency of internationally mobile students, higher likelihood of employment at home and abroad, positive attitudes towards open borders and democracy, strengthened research and teaching capacity, and increased attractiveness of collaborating universities to foreign academics. Evidence on other, frequently assumed benefits of international cooperation in higher education is limited.
