Call for Applications - Yehuda Elkana Doctoral Fellowship in Higher Education Policy

deadline: 31 January 2019

Central European University’s (CEU) Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations invites outstanding young scholars interested in pursuing a doctoral degree with a specialization in higher education policy to apply for the Yehuda Elkana Fellowship. The fellowship is offered to those candidates who are successfully admitted to the School’s doctoral program to pursue advanced education and research in Higher Education Policy and is awarded for a period of 36 months in total. The Fellowship fully sustains the students during their graduate work at CEU, including tuition costs, living expenses, research travel, a semester abroad, a write-up grant, and medical insurance, allowing them to concentrate entirely upon their studies. This is a Full Doctoral Scholarship.

The university’s Yehuda Elkana Center supports the work of the doctoral fellows by organizing academic events, inviting guest speakers, providing additional opportunities for professional networking (conference attendance), and offering help with academic publication process.

The Fellowship is named after Yehuda Elkana, the third President and Rector of Central European University (1999-2009), a renown international scholar, public intellectual, and educator with a deep commitment to open society.

To apply for the Yehuda Elkana Doctoral Fellowship, applicants need to submit a regular CEU application form for doctoral programs, along with a research proposal which lies within the academic subfield of higher education policy. To be considered for the Elkana scholarship, candidates need to indicate this by beginning their Statement of Purpose with the following sentence: “Please consider this application for the Yehuda Elkana Fellowship.”

Applications should be submitted no later than January 31, 2019 (23:59, Central European Time).
