Call for Applications - 2018-2019 European Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities

CEU has announced the Call for Applications for its eighth annual European Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities. The award, launched in 2011, honors academics in the social sciences and humanities who teach at higher education institutions in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The Diener Prize of 5,000 euros, which accompanies the award, is made possible by a generous gift from Steven and Linda Diener in memory of Ilona Diener.

As we begin the academic year, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Helga Dorner, faculty member, senior teacher and researcher in higher education teaching and learning has been named Interim Director of the CTL. She looks forward to meeting all new CEU faculty, as well as others who may be new to the CTL and the many returning faculty who have worked with us in the past.

Can audio technologies help students learn better? Can we assign podcasts in the same way we assign course readings? Does it take a lot of instructor time? These questions and others led to a discussion at the Center for Teaching and Learning on March 20, when around 15 faculty members gathered to think through audio over wine and cheese.
