Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Global Teaching Fellowship Program (GTFP), which supports advanced CEU doctoral students and recent alumni in developing their teaching practice and gaining valuable teaching experience.
During the fellowship, recipients will design and teach a course for students outside of CEU while receiving mentoring and pedagogical support from the Yehuda Elkana Center for Teaching, Learning and Higher Education Research. The fellowship also provides funding to support teaching-related research and scholarly development as educators.
Global Teaching Fellows can pursue teaching opportunities through one of the three pathways below:
- Self-Arranged Teaching: If you already have plans to teach a course at another institution, you can apply for a Global Teaching Fellowship to support this teaching experience.
- Global Invisible University (GIU): GIU is an academic solidarity program that grew out of the Invisible University for Ukraine. The GTFP welcomes proposals for courses that could engage participants from multiple countries across Europe and Eurasia.
- Facilitated Teaching Placements: If you would like to gain teaching experience but do not yet have a host institution, you can propose a course in the application form. The GTFP team will seek to identify potential host institutions or academic solidarity programs and share relevant course ideas to them.
Eligibility
If you are in or beyond your third year of doctoral studies at CEU or received your doctoral degree from CEU within the past year but do not currently have a full-time job, you are encouraged to learn more about the Fellowship and eligibility requirements through the Call for Applications.

Applications for self-arranged teaching placements will be reviewed on a rolling basis, beginning September 7, 2026. Applications are encouraged by then, as well, for course proposals where applicants do not yet have a host institution.
Additional information about fellowships in the Global Invisible University will be shared before the October 15 deadline.

Mentoring offered by CEU Yehuda Elkana Center
The Fellowship is designed to assist CEU doctoral students and alums develop in their teaching. Mentoring provides a structured support for you as you plan your teaching, face challenges and successes in the classroom, independently learn more about the scholarship of teaching as related to your interests, and contextualize these experiences and findings in light of your longer-term goals and plans.
