YEC colleague Milica Popović, GOAF research fellow, receives prestigious DAAD prize for Fundamental Academic Values

Dr. Milica Popović, leader of the Global Observatory on Academic Freedom (GOAF) at CEU, is one of the recipients of the German Academic Exchange Service’s (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD) Fundamental Academic Values Award. She received the prize for her outstanding scientific contribution to the promotion of fundamental academic values, including academic freedom, integrity and autonomy in the European Higher Education Area. 

Popović has been awarded primarily for the research work that was published in June 2022 as the first global report of GOAF under the title “Changing Understandings of Academic Freedom in the World at the Time of Pandemic”. The report analyzed the current regulatory frameworks at the international level regarding academic freedom, offering a systematic insight into new, sometimes contentious conceptions of academic freedom, and into attempts to redefine the term.
