Volha Biziukova is a post-doctoral fellow affiliated with the Open Society Research Platform hosted by the Yehuda Elkana Center for Higher Education.  She joined the research project that seeks to revitalize and further inspire intellectual debates associated with the heritage of Karl Popper, and, in particular, with the concept of open society in relation to the current historical moment of increasing authoritarianism and social and political polarization. Volha has recently recieved her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna. Her research interests lie at the intersection of state-citizen relations, policies, class, and consumption with a specific focus on the post-Soviet space. Before joining YECHE, Volha was a junior visiting fellow for more than a year at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), Vienna. She holds her M.A. in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the Central European University. Volha has authored several academic research articles and pieces for general media.
